COLUMBUS – The State Controlling Board yesterday approved the release of coronavirus relief aid to support local schools in the 98th House District and across the state, announced State Representative Brett Hillyer (R-Uhrichsville).
“I applaud the Controlling Board for securing $100 million to schools across the state as they work to prepare for bringing Ohio’s students back into the classroom,” said Hillyer. “Our schools are truly a vital part of our communities and these fund will assure they continue to prosper.”
The school aid is being distributed based on enrollment, with additional funding to support students with disabilities and economically disadvantaged students, as well as transportation obligations. According to the Ohio Office of Budget and Management, the federal coronavirus relief aid can be used for a variety of needs, including protective equipment and sanitation and remote learning.
The 98th House District will receive $1,014,203 in aid for area school districts. Here’s how they will fare under the approved plan:

- Garaway Local – $75,210
- Indian Valley Local – $107,708
- New Philadelphia City – $142,315
- Newcomerstown Exempted Village – $59,650
- Strasburg-Franklin Local – $25,819
- Tuscarawas Valley Local – $74,642
The board’s actions yesterday released $100 million in total for schools across the state.
